For anyone who is confused for some reason about whether it’s okay for men to go out of their way looking for skin products to invigorate, exfoliate, and moisturize…it’s OKAY! Healthy skin is not a luxury–skin performs many important functions. It may feel like pampering, but skin care is important, and men should jump right on that train! So the real question is: can men use the same type of skin care products as women? Many of you already know that aloe is a popular ingredient in many women’s shave gels and lotions. But what is the the relationship between aloe and skin care for men? Take comfort in knowing that the medicinal plant does not discriminate: men and women alike can use this plant to achieve soft, clean skin!
Aloe and Skin Care for Men
Aloe products are not just for women! I found an article today talking about some natural and organic products for mens’ skin care including an Aloe Vera and seaweed 2-in-1 face wash and shaving gel. It used the word “supple” when speaking about the results. Along with that there was a scrub, a “cool down” active moisturizer, and some rose facial oil for your lady. Gentlemen, check it out. The ladies want some supple faces to kiss!
But, all you men out there, be careful when selecting an aloe product to use. I picked up my boyfriend’s bottle of “Soothing Aloe” shaving cream today, happy that he had finally jumped on the aloe bandwagon with me (now we both use an aloe shaving cream!) But, interested in how much aloe was in the shaving cream, I quickly turned the bottle around to view the list of ingredients. And lo and behold, aloe was last. And you know what the last on the list means, right? Aloe makes up the least percentage of thi shaving cream! Ranked above it was all these chemicals and artificial ingredients with names that felt like tongue twisters as I read them off to my boyfriend. There was even more fragrance put into the cream than aloe! Although the product had the name “Soothing Aloe,” it certainly did not earn the right to flaunt the name of this great skin-caring plant. Aloe was hardly even in it! So how much of the aloe skin benefits was my boyfriend really getting from shaving with this? Not much, indeed!
The lesson about aloe and skin care for men: You want to select an aloe product which a decent amount of aloe in it–it should not be listed as the last ingredient. Aloe is important in taking care of your skin, making it soft, acne-free, and much more, so make sure you choose a product that gives it the respects and importance it deserves. Making your own shaving cream with aloe or using pure aloe gel on your skin is also an alternative to commercially-bought products. With both of these, you control how much aloe your skin gets!
The Importance of Men Moisturizing…With Aloe
When looking up men’s moisturizing, I found this article about the importance of acknowledging a skin care routine. Men can fight age too just by moisturizing correctly and wearing sunscreen. And the best way to moisturize? That’s right: with aloe!
So, don’t forget. With this gorgeous weather we’re supposed to eventually be having, women and men alike need to look into good skin care and protection. Your skin protects you, so treat it nicely. I’m suggesting this to all the grooms-to-be I know with a lot going on this spring! Moisturize and protect your skin with aloe vera shaving cream, oil, lotion, and scrub! Aloe and skin care for men: it’s no longer an unlikely combination!
