Aloe & Hair Care: Affordable products for healthy hair

March 1, 2012 by We Love Aloe 1 Comment

I have a lot of hair. The strands aren’t thick, they are skinny and smooth and they get oily very easily. I need to shower every day if I really want to look clean. This means I need to be careful about what hair supplies I use because also, my hair is prone to frizzy, especially in the summertime. Wintertime’s issue is more of a staticky one.

Yes, it’s a hassle. I don’t get to pick a day and sleep in because I showered yesterday. Nope, you can tell. It isn’t the worst thing in the world. I enjoy my shower time and I am very particular about my shower ingredients. For one, I enjoy using a loofah. I feel as though I exfoliate best using one. Also, I like my shampoo and conditioner to smell really good. I am one of those shoppers who smells in the store. Bam, hitting you with some truth!

So I ran out shampoo and conditioner the other day and decided it was time to explore my Aloe hair care options. When most people think of Aloe Vera, they think of the healing properties that it has when used on the skin. However, the plant also has other uses, including being added to many popular haircare products. When used in haircare products, aloe has many great benefits. This includes conditioning tresses to make them soft and healthy, promoting growth and even helping to treat a dry and flaky scalp. These products can be used on any type of hair, but will most benefit those who suffer from dry scalp and locks, as well as those who wish to take advantage of the fabulous and natural conditioning power that comes from this plant.

One popular brand of products that use this potent plant for soft, healthy and manageable hair is Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture. Available in both a shampoo and a conditioner, these products contain aloe vera and avocado for full moisturizing benefits. These products help moisturize and repair dry and damaged tresses. Users of Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner report seeing a difference after the first use, with more dramatic results over time. Priced at under five dollars and available at many different retailers, these products are a great value for those who wish to add more moisture and shine to their locks.
Suave Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner are another inexpensive option for those who have a dry scalp. Containing plant extracts and Vitamin E, these products offer many benefits for a healthy mane. Although priced much cheaper than salon brands, users of Suave Naturals were pleased with the silky, soft results that these products gave them and found the results to be comparable to the more expensive brands. Available at grocery stores, convenience stores and discount department stores, it is easy to find this line of products. Like Tresemme, it is priced reasonably at under five dollars.Mill Creek Botanicals offer a line of moisturizing haircare products. This brand of shampoo and conditioner features no artificial colors, has natural ingredients including vitamin E and is gentle enough for everyday use by anyone. It also helps to soothe and moisturize a dry scalp. Priced under ten dollars, it is slightly more expensive than other brands but is still an inexpensive product that works well. It is available at health food and nutritional retailers. There are also other types of these plant infused haircare products available on the market. This includes stylers to help maintain any hairstyle. John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Serum is a haircare product that contains aloe and vitamin E for additional moisturizing. This product is used on tresses to make them look and feel healthier and silky smooth while adding shine. In addition, this haircare product can help fight frizz and make hairstyles more manageable. It is lightweight and does not make locks look greasy or weighed down. With pricing at around $10 and availability at many popular retailers, it is easy to find and relatively inexpensive.

Aloe vera is a great way to add shine and moisture to manes that are dry or has been damaged by color treating or heat styling. It can help with frizzy and unmanageable tresses that are dry and unhealthy, in addition to helping to heal and soothe the scalp to prevent flakiness. With a wide selection of inexpensive but effective haircare products that are infused with aloe, it is easy for anyone to have the beautiful, healthy hair that they have always dreamed of having.Photo: Mill Creek Botanicals

Are there any shampoo and conditioner which contains ONLY natural ingredients (and NO harmful or very very minimal chemicals)? Please give name, brand and if possible, Amazon links. Many thanks!
